When it comes to overhead foodwarming solutions, continuous heat from the unit can damage any 'onboard controls'' and shorten their lifespan. Utilizing a Remote Mount Box (RMB) keeps these controls cooler, which prolongs their life, minimizes downtime and reduces service costs.
So, what exactly is a remote mount box?
A remote mount box (RMB) is an aluminum-encased enclosure. It allows operators to relocate a foodwarmer's controls — any toggle switches, infinite controls to adjust the power to the heater’s element, and indicator lights that illuminate when the element is on — to a remote location away from the heat of the unit. Continuous heat from an overhead solution can be tough on its control components, especially when they are mounted directly to the unit. RMBs get mounted in a cool location away from the overhead heater (typically on a wall or counter and never on, above or directly under the warmer itself). As a result, the sensitive controls for the foodwarming solution will stay cooler and stick around for longer. And that’s certainly a good thing.
Selecting an RMB
You can’t go wrong with an RMB, but you do need to ensure you have the right RMB for your specific overhead foodwarming solution. If you’ve opted for a Hatco solution, we make it easy with our helpful RMB Picker tool. This worksheet will guide you through which RMB to choose and what control box features (infinite controls, toggle switches, indicator lights) will work best with the overhead foodwarming solution you’ve selected.
